This can happen as early as two months or at 5 years, but the anxiety of leaving someone else in charge and care of the person that calls you mom is daunting. Many have the fortunate experience of family support, while others rely solely on themselves and/or spouses. Whatever the situation, responsibility of and individual to care for your child while you're at work (in or outside of the home) is important.

Being a mom is a great experience, but this question of who watches and cares for your child is challenging? Extensive background, database and referral search is only a percentage of the the pie. Overall, your instinct will help finalize your decision. We are excited to start the year with a new focus and appeal. Last year had many challenges with juggling the Internet Social Network. Learning how to blog, why to blog, twitter, facebook and blog rolls (not a food, but sure sounds like one) and many more outlets to connect with fellow moms, bloggers, friends and networking buddies.

The main challenge is focusing and prioritizing on what matters most. Family is definitely at the top, but how to manage these great channels of communication without getting diverted from the main desired outcome. The desired outcome is to impact each other lives in a positive manner.

The Mommy Executive is learning from her own advice. Organize and re-organize for the new year. The Mommy Executive will focus on "Mom Features" of how women keep it together to help influence others to do the same and Organizing resources. The Sharmooz has a new blog dedicated the Virtual Tour and updates of the fast developing company.

Lessons have been well learned and would not be possible without the women on the online networking power. Thanks to all who have contributed to the growth of The Sharmooz.

Featured Mom

Life has many challenges ...

Some people are able to overcome major obstacles and have a healthy, well balanced environment for themselves and family. The Other Advice: 46 Steps for Surviving the First Year of Motherhood.

This sweet, 60 page book is full of helpful tips (46 to be exact) perfect for the first-time mom who hasn't yet experienced sleep deprivation, childcare guilt or the joys of bonding with her little one. It is also great for us "experienced" moms who need a refresher course on how to deal with the screaming-puking-constant diaper changing-no rest for the weak-uncontrollable sobbing, joys of parenting an infant. Ann makes a point to sprinkle humor throughout her book, which helps one to remember that laughter really IS the best medicine in the toughest of times. (and what's tougher than parenting?)

What I found the most interesting about this read was Ann's "no rock policy." As the title of her book states, Ann believes in NOT rocking your baby. Controversial, yes, but I can see where she is coming from since I am still rocking my almost one year-old son to sleep, including in the middle of the night. I had never considered (or even heard of) her method before reading this book and I am now quite fascinated in learning more. You'll have to read the book to get the full scoop!

Even if you don't agree with the "no rock policy" (and you should at least hear her out), this book is definitely worth purchasing and sticking in your diaper bag for quick reference, packing in your suitcase on the way to the hospital, or giving to a new mom as a baby shower gift. You can purchase this book for the low price of $15.95 at www.dontrockthatbaby.com.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book as it was easy to read, informative and humorous. I believe it gives us moms the hope that we CAN and WILL survive the first year of "mommyhood," no matter the obstacles.

I would like to thank Ann Tillage for giving me the opportunity to read this! Don't forget that you can order her book at www.dontrockthatbaby.com! Ann is also the owner of the Sharmooz Company, which create luxurious satin gifts, so please check that out as well.

Now... on to the giveaway! Ann wants to give one lucky reader a copy of her book!

To enter, please leave a comment, telling us one important tip you would give to a new mom. Earn an extra entry by becoming, or already being a subscriber (please note in comment). You can subscribe here at Mom Spark. Giveaway will run until December 1st. This is the year anniversary of
The Sharmooz Company.

The company was inspired by my children to develop exquisite satin gifts for the family.

Last year, I began with one product the Baby Sharmooz Satin Headrest. I now carry 10 products including the book. I am diversifying my family gift line and receiving referrals and invites to more boutiques.

Can we survive motherhood?

Yes, we can. Sometimes the giving leads to juggling everything - family, work, play, church, etc. Can we have it all? What must be sacrificed? Is there a perfect equation or fixed to this Super Woman phenomenon? Here is one moms perspective of how she keeps it together.

Ann Diva Sharmooz

A Whole New Respect! I was once a Manager of over 30 people…most of which were women. Obviously, a large portion of these women had a child or children. I always got so annoyed at the constant schedule changes, sudden request for time off due to an “illness” or their need to suddenly leave early. I mean…how hard can it be?!?!

These women were just using the fact that they had children to leave the office and go off and have fun somewhere else! Well, suddenly I had my own child. Fifteen months after that, I had my second child. Wonder Woman was not just a comic strip or TV character any longer.

Every Mom is a Super Mom, in my opinion. I started to gain a whole new respect for these women that once annoyed me. It was no longer “what’s so hard about it?!”…it now became “how the heck were they able to do it?” It took a while, but I started to master it. Two toddler boys…need I say more. I always thought stories of dueling tantrums was just an urban legend. You know…something that your Mother tells you to scare you from having children too close together. Well, let me tell you, my boys have taken me to every limit, every edge and to the end of my rope. With one boy jumping off the back of the couch and the other dumping his chocolate milk onto the floor…thank goodness for that one chemical in my brain that stops me from twisting them into little pretzels. To balance work and family has got to be one of the toughest jobs that exist on this planet.

I remember days when I was getting the boys ready to be dropped off at daycare/preschool. I would get their breakfast, change their diapers, change their clothes, brush their teeth, pack their lunches, get their blankets packed for naptime and then the extra 10 minutes was spent getting myself ready. After I dropped them off, I would be on my way to work going through the checklist in my mind…am I wearing my bra? How about underwear? Did I brush my teeth? Do my shoes match? Did I only put makeup on half my face again today? Whether you are a stay-at-home Mom, working part-time while a Mom or working full-time while a Mom…You are a Super Mom.

Rae Lynn Glispin, owner of Kidz Comfort. The change in air flow, temperature, light and sounds is often enough to distract a baby and help them calm down. This one can be a real benefit for your sanity as well.

Change the view. Look out a window or look in a mirror. Let your baby get close enough to touch his reflection. Wave and make faces. Play peek-a-boo by stepping out of sight from the mirror, then slowly stepping back over to the mirror so your reflections return.

Offer your baby varying textures to feel. Pat the Bunny is a great book of textures that my first son loved to gnaw on. Sadly, it didn’t last long so making your own collection of household items is a cheaper alternative. A soft Minkee ™ blanket, a scrap of fake fur, a piece of sand paper, a soft hairbrush, a wooden spoon or smooth textured a coffee mug are good choices. Just be sure to hold them so your baby doesn’t drop them on his face or put them in his mouth – especially the sandpaper.

Sensory experiences are the very best fussy busters, even as children age. Unfortunately at such a young age your options are limited. The sound and sight of running water can be enough. If your baby is sitting up by himself place a small amount of water on a cookie sheet then place that on a towel on the kitchen floor and let him splash in the water. If he’s not sitting up by himself you can turn on the faucet to a trickle then hold him close enough to put his hand in it and splash around. You can also take him in the bath or shower. Another sensory experience is to put your baby in his high chair and then put several spoons full of yogurt on the tray. Let him finger paint with it. Just be prepared for an involved clean-up when he’s done.

Sometimes music, especially if it’s familiar to him, can be a great fussy buster. Try various styles of music. Babies are individuals with their own preferences for things and can already have some pretty strong opinions!

Fussy babies are often the highly intelligent ones who love buttons. Try holding your older baby close to the light switch and show him how to flip it. Babies also love buttons to push. Bebe Sounds makes a great fussy buster called the Baby Buzz’r that has a baby-safe mirror, soft ears to chew, and fun buttons for your baby to push which make it play music (but not too loudly), vibrate, and light up (but not too brightly). What I love about it is that it’s not over stimulating with super bright lights and way-too-loud sounds like other battery-operated baby toys.

Try visual stimulation. With a quick trip to the fabric store you can find fleece or cotton in bright primary colors or black and white, bold patterns. Cotton fabrics need the edges finished with a straight stitch to keep them from unraveling but fleece can simply be cut and used. These are great for playing peek-a-boo with your baby.

This last trick for babies about 6 months and up should be reserved only for special occasions since it needs to be used infrequently to keep it effective. Create a fussy basket for times when you need to cook dinner and make phone calls. Include things like a soft hair brush, fake fur scraps, a baby-proof mirror, a teething toy, a drinking water bottle filled with beans or brightly colored beads and the lid sealed with a glue gun, a baby food jar with water, a teaspoon of corn syrup and glitter and the lid sealed shut with a glue gun, cold & warm items, bright colored nesting bowls, a television remote with battery door taped shut so the batteries can’t come out, a disconnected keyboard with lots of buttons to push, a rubber spatula, a wooden spoon, a metal bowl or a metal pan lid. Leave the items in the basket or box so your baby can discover them one by one while taking them out.

Remember that fussiness won’t last forever and those same traits that make him fussy – persistence, intelligence and sensitivity - will make him a great person.

About the Author:
Satin has been used for years in care of dry skin and hair problems. The medical community also recommends its use for medically induced via medications or procedures leading to hair loss. I had an A - HA moment with my second child. I have always used satin to protect hair, then why not for babies. The Sharmooz was Born!!

This is my first experience with blogging.
